A POPULAR festive fair is set to return to a high street this weekend with organisers expecting a "great event".

Burnham Carnival organisers announced the return of the outdoor Burnham Festive Fayre in October.

There will be a range of stalls, fair rides, festive food and drink, and performances from Epic Dance, Serena Grant, Loula Panayi and The Every Voice Choir - all in the High Street.

Children will also enjoy a visit from father Christmas.

Santa's Grotto, donated by Bistro on the Quay, will be open from 3.15pm-4.30pm and 5pm-6.30pm.

Tickets will be available to buy on the day at £2 per child and each youngster will receive a small gift.

The famous Maldon Grinch will also be causing mischief at the festive fair.

It is hoped some of the highly popular cosplayers and pirates who attended this year's successful carnival will make an appearance.

The High Street will be closed from 9am to 9pm between Chapel Road and Riverside Road on the day of the fair, Saturday, December 4.

Although the event doesn't start until 3pm, and ends at 7pm, stall holders will be arriving early and leaving later for the set up and take down of the huge event.

Organisers ask drivers to not leave their car parked overnight, or to move it before 9am.

If for any reason cars are left in the High Street after 9.30am, drivers may not be able to get them out until the evening.

Organisers have also been advised by Maldon District Council to recommend the use of face coverings at the event - though this is a outside event and as such is down to personal preference.

There will be face masks available at the road closure by Barclays bank for visitors who need one.
