A VILLAGE hall meeting is happening in Great Oakley to discuss a proposed redevelopment.

The redevelopment in question is a residential development of 86 dwellings, a community hall, a play area, landscaping and an open green space.

The site previously received planning approval for 51 dwellings, a village hall, a community parking facility, a doctor surgery, a village shop and an open green space.

This is classified as a major development in Great Oakley, representing a 30% increase in dwellings.

However, because of this significant increase, the proposal needs to be addressed in front of a committee.

Mike Bush, Vice Chairman of Great Oakley Parish Council said: “We decided to have the meeting on Tuesday because at the last Parish Council, people had mixed views on the redevelopment.

“People don’t know too much about the scheme, it was released to the public on November 8 and residents only had 21 days to respond to it.

“So to be fair to our residents, we are having an open forum, with drawings on display and a comments box, the parish will consider these comments.”

The meeting is taking place at Great Oakley village hall on Tuesday, December 7 at 7pm.
