A FAMILY fun day will be taking place in Mistley this weekend as part of a rugby club’s popular annual President’s Day.

Mistley Rugby Club, in Furze Hill, is inviting residents and sports fans to join the free fun event on Saturday afternoon.

Families can rock up to the new clubhouse from 12noon to enjoy an afternoon of rugby, live music and a buffet.

There will also be bouncy castles, a meet-and-greet with superheroes for the youngsters and food will also be provided by The Frying Squad’s mobile fish and chip van.

Rugby club volunteer Beth Whittock said: “This is a free event that celebrates the history of the club, its members, and the local community.

“We’re inviting all to come down and enjoy the day and will be showcasing some kids and adults' rugby matches, as well as providing a bouncy castle and superhero meet-and-greets for the youngsters, live music, food, and fun for all.

“The festivities will begin at 12noon and continue on into the night.”

The clubhouse opens at 12noon, with youth rugby at 1pm, senior rugby at 2pm and a buffet from 4.15pm.

Music will then be put on by local band The Keystones from 5.30pm.
