PRIMARY school pupils enjoyed early jubilee celebrations ahead of the half-term holidays.
Children at the Highfields Primary School in Colchester Road, Lawford, took part in sponsored treasure hunt, which saw families come together to raise £855 for the school.
The pupils were also involved in a special British values assembly followed by a jubilee lunch with more than 300 children.
A spokesman for the school said: “The children have also been working incredibly hard on designing some large portraits of the Queen which we are displaying in our front entrance.
“We are also looking forward to receiving more entries for the 'Design a Portrait of the Queen' competition.“
The school has also been given funding from Tendring Council to mark the royal occasion.
The spokesman added: “We were delighted that Highfields School was awarded a grant of £1,000 to support our jubilee celebrations.
“We decided that we would like to use the grant money to buy every child a special Platinum Jubilee Coin.”
A few miles away, in Dovercourt, pupils at the Mayflower Primary School enjoyed a picnic lunch.
The children then joined forces - and voices - to sing God Save The Queen.
