MEGASTAR Ed Sheeran will be putting brush to canvas to join a global movement by a talented teenager.

Noah, 13, who has cerebral palsy, and his father Nathan Jones, of Dedham, put lockdown to good use when they launched their unique art project.

The scheme has seen them collaborate with hundreds of artists across the world in a bid to support the children’s ward at Colchester Hospital.

Noah, who is best known for his artistic name Background Bob, has been painting beautiful abstract background on a piece of cardboard.

Using social media, he and his dad then invite artists to collaborate and paint over Noah’s work.

Much to the family’s excitement, Suffolk singer Ed Sheeran has now confirmed he will be adding his design to the bright and bold artworks of Noah.

The Shape of You singer shared the news in a Facebook video which was published by the Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity.

He said: “Noah, thank you very much for your books and the background that you sent for me to paint over.

“I am going to paint it over as soon as I can. And good luck with everything. I love what you are doing!”

Noah’s family and the Colchester charity have also shared their joy in a Facebook post.

They said: “ We were very excited when we received this lovely video message a few days ago from local lad and global superstar Ed Sheeran.

“Not only are we over the moon to know that he’s heard about our little project but he has very kindly agreed to come and collaborate with me too.

“How amazing is that?

“Thank you dude, we know you are very busy and it’s a real honour to have you involved. “

Background Bob has launched two major auctions so far, which saw hundreds of artists from across the world showcase their talents.

In last year’s auction, Noah and his family raised around £100,000 which enabled Colchester Hospital to build and kit out a whole new sensory room and to revamp the garden area.
