A CLUB focused on helping the community through fundraising and events has welcomed a new president.
Manningtree Rotary Club held its presidential handover during a garden party to commemorate Stephen Coiley’s promotion to president.
Mr Coiley explained what happens on the annual handover evening.
He said: “On the night, the previous president David Willis welcomes the new president, which was myself in this case.
“I was David’s vice president this past year and the junior vice president, Terry Dean is now my vice president.”
Mr Coiley has been a rotary club member for four years and joined after he retired.
He joined the club to help out in the community as he wanted to be actively involved in the area.
Mr Coiley added: “When I joined I took over as community lead and was tasked with focusing on the environment in the Manningtree area.
“We have undertaken various project to improve the cleanliness of the area such as cleaning the walls by Mistley Place Park and cleaning road signs to help people see them more easily.”
Mr Coiley was full of praise when speaking about Mr Willis’ tenure as president.
He said: “David’s tenure was very successful, he managed to increase membership by ten members, which was very good.
“His work moving the club from zoom meetings to in person activities again was great.”
