SPORTY students turned trophy champions “performed absolutely incredibly” as they took part in a schools athletics competition.

Pupils from the Chase Lane Primary School, in Dovercourt, were entered into the Harwich Schools District Sports event.

Taking place at Harwich and Dovercourt High School, the competitors tackled a variety of different sporting disciplines as they went head-to-head with other schools.

All of Chase Lane Primary School’s individual sprinters made the final, while there were also medal winners in the long jump, vortex throw and 600-metre race.

Both the boy and girl teams representing the school managed to win the overall prize, and they also scooped the Relay Shield after winning all four of the relay races.

Lee Barrett, sports instructor at Chase Lane Primary School, said he was extremely proud with the efforts and sportsmanship shown by his pupils.

He said: “The event was brilliantly organised and really well run - a fantastic sporting event to end the academic year.

“The Chase Lane children performed absolutely incredibly, whilst cheering their teammates and the children from other schools, which was wonderful to see.

“The Chase Lane squad achieved huge success at the event, winning both the girls and boys competition trophies and the girls and boys relay shields.”
