A MUSICIAN turned gig promoter has declared Manningtree as “the place to be” after staging another successful night of live music in the county’s tiniest town.

Ben Brown, who has recently been playing as a soloist, is perhaps best known as the frontman of Dingus Khan and SuperGlu, and as a member of Anna’s Bones.

He is also now the founder of Capturing The Moon, a gig night that takes place on a monthly basis at The Red Lion pub in South Street.

The most recent evening of original artists boasted a line-up of Enjoyable Listens, who have performed at Glastonbury, My Fat Pony, and Ben himself.

It saw a huge and receptive crowd pack into the watering hole’s upstairs venue, which was decorated with mood-setting fairy lights.

Speaking about the show, Ben said: “It was another absolutely fantastic night - everyone was having such a good time and it was lovely to see a few new faces too.

“Manningtree is the place to be.”

Alan Jones, founder of Black Cactus Studio, was in charge of the live sound on the evening of the concert.

He added: “It is a pleasure to be working alongside Ben on these shows and they are only going to get better.”

The next Capturing The Moon gig will take place on August 26.
