PLANS to build eight semi-detached houses have been unveiled in a bid to bring more affordable homes to a village.

Outline proposals for the homes off of Colchester Road, in Wix, has been submitted to Tendring Council.

The homes are expected to be two bedrooms with “regard to the apparent need for lower cost dwellings within the village and surrounding rural area.”

Access to the homes would be via a private lane off of Colchester Road.

The planning statement said: “The proposal would contribute economically to the area by supporting existing construction jobs and also increasing the population within the village to help sustain local services and amenities.”

The site has been identified as being suitable for further housing within the council’s local plan.

The statement added: “The scheme will provide for a modest development that will continue the form of housing in the context of that along Colchester Road.

“This site has been classified as a brownfield site.”

People have until September 2 to submit comments on the plans.

Tendring Council will have the final say.
