A DOCUMENTARY about Sir Winston Churchill will screened in a town where some of the scenes were filmed.

The film entitled Churchill and the Movie Mogul is an archive-based documentary with some sequences shot in the Harwich area.

First shown on TV in 2019, the John Fleet directed film be screened in the Electric Palace, Harwich with a live directors question and answer session.

A spokesman for the Electric Palace said: “Telling the story of the relationship between Winston Churchill and film producer Alexander Korda, this documentary uses much rare archive film of Churchill as well as recreating some scenes to tell the story.

“Much of these set-ups were filmed in the Harwich area such as a film show on board a ship, actually shot on a set in a hangar at Great Oakley, where local extras included Chris Strachan and one or two members of the Harwich and Dovercourt Rugby Club.”

The Electric Palace was also used, with the audience made up of local extras and members of the Harwich and Dovercourt Theatre Group.

Harwich film producer David Cleveland helped with research, location hunting, extras, and organising some setups.

Churchill and the Movie Mogul will be shown at the Electric Palace on Sunday, November 20, at 7.30pm followed by the Q and A.
