A PHOTOGRAPHER has fulfilled one of his goals by launching an exhibition covering the town he has lived in for his whole life.

Taz Brotherton, 34, of Manningtree, goes by TazzyBro when taking pictures and was introduced to the art form in his infancy by his mother and grandfather.

After falling out of love with photography in his adolescence, Taz picked up the hobby again in his mid-twenties and has continued from there.

Taz said: “My grandad had been doing it for years with darkroom photography and stuff like that and my mum followed his lead.

“That’s when I picked it up and I tagged along when she would be developing her film which is where I got the bug for it.

“I sort of lost interest when I was a teenager, going out with my mates at the weekend to house parties and other things took up my time.”

Taz has built up his portfolio over the past ten years and his work began by sharing his photos on Facebook which gained traction in the Manningtree Shoutout group.

As he got more followers on his Facebook page, which now sits at close to 2,000 followers, Taz started to get booked for events like weddings where he could further hone his skills.

A lifelong Manningtree resident, Taz has spent countless hours walking around the area with his dog Zep taking shots of the area.

This has led to his first exhibition entitled It’s On Your Doorstep which entails six first edition fine art prints with custom handmade frames and certificates signed by Taz.

The exhibition is based in NaviStitch in Manningtree High Street and launched on Wednesday.

Taz will be in the store on Saturday November 5 and Saturday November 12 to talk to attendees.

He said: “I’d say the exhibition is for anyone who doesn’t really know the area and wants to find out more about it.

“You might walk past somewhere like the Mistley Towers 100 times in a year but I believe these images will provide a new perspective and that’s my biggest aim.”
