THE husband of a woman killed in a head-on A120 crash has paid tribute to his “soulmate”.

Michael Frost told Chelmsford Crown Court his wife, Nicola, was “the rock of the family”.

The 40-year-old died after being struck by a van being driven by Piotr Bebacz, who had fallen asleep at the wheel on December 11, 2021.

A victim impact statement read on behalf of Mr Frost to the court said: “Nicola was the rock of the family. Family life was everything to her.

“She was a devoted mother and would drop everything for her children, and she was a doting wife to me.

“She wasn’t just our children’s mum, she was their best friend. Nicola was without doubt the head of the family.”

The statement continued: “My soulmate, our family’s rock, was killed on her way to work a mere 600 or 700 yards from our house.

“[Her death] shocked me to the core. I did not believe what I was told.

“My wife’s life was taken from us by the recklessness of a so-called professional driver.”
