A VOLUNTARY organisation that offers practical and emotional support to families has thanked attendees who came along to its Christmas festivities.

Home Start Harwich held its Christmas event in Bobbit’s Hole Nature Reserve Dovercourt on Thursday, December 22.

The event saw children meet Father Christmas in a Santa’s grotto with presents for all  that attended.

A spokeswoman for Home Start Harwich said: “What a truly magical day in Bobbit’s Hole.

“Santa in his grotto was very generous handing out presents to 148 children.

“He even brought along two of his real reindeer, Dancer and Blitzen, and two very helpful elves.”

The day continued with attendees getting stuck in with Christmas crafts and having lovely refreshments such as toasted marshmallows and pizzas.

The spokeswoman added: “We would like to thank Miss Margharita for providing the delicious pizzas.

“A massive thank you also goes out to the Harwich Society for providing the use of the venue, Active Essex, and the Rotary Club of Harwich and Dovercourt for funding.

“Well done to volunteers Eilis, Carey, Brenda, Beth, Laura, Harrison and Tony, as well as the staff team.

“What a great way to start the Christmas festivities, have a safe and happy Christmas everybody, see you in the new year from all at Home-Start Harwich.”
