A CHOIR leader is organising a community project to record and film as many residents as possible singing a beloved community song.

Clare Leach, founder of Harwich Sing Tendring Voices is hosting the event to record a rendition of Bathside Boys.

A song well known by Harwich residents, Clare would like to ensure the tradition is passed on to future Harwich and Dovercourt generations.

She said: “If you speak to anyone with a family link or any of the original girls and boys from Bathside from back in the day, they speak with real emotion and fondness of the memories of singing the song and it holds very special meaning to those families.

“I came across the song and have heard stories about that era whilst visiting care homes to have sing a long sessions or at my Golden Oldies sing a long sessions with Harwich Sing.

“It is a song that has been passed down the generations of Bathside girls and boys and I understand it was sung regularly in The Anchor pub and also played by the Harwich Boys Brigade.”

Clare is set to record the song and all are invited to join her, the event will be filmed by HollyVision Digital Productions and put on social media and YouTube.

The recording will take place on Saturday, March 4, in St Nicholas Church’ at 2pm. For more information call 07554 423613 or email clareleach37@btinternet.com.
