A BASEBALL club is looking for new members as it continues to promote the growth of the sport in Harwich.

Harwich Town Bay Area Blues launched in April 2021 and has made remarkable strides in its first two seasons.

The club is always welcoming new members of all abilities to take part in America’s favourite pastime.

Connor Driver, club chairman, said: “It’s a great opportunity for everyone to get involved and stay active.

“When we first started one of the lads was 14 and our oldest player is currently 52.

“We’ve got women who have played for us, it’s not a physical contact sport and you don’t have to be particularly athletic to take part.

“One of my friends started and used baseball as way to lose an incredible amount of weight.”

The club is currently in its third season competing in the East of England Baseball League. It finished last in its first season but bounced up to fourth the next year.

It plays in Low Road, Dovercourt, and residents usually gather round on a Sunday to take in the games.

The Bay Area Blues train every Tuesday evening and play matches every third Sunday.
