A SET of sporty pupils took part in an athletics event competing against several schools from across the county.
Chase Lane Primary School and Nursery in Dovercourt competed in the year five and six Indoor Athletics Essex County Finals in Southend.
Twelve primary schools took part in an action-packed morning with several relay races, throwing and jumping events.
Lee Barrett, PE teacher at the school, said: “The Chase Lane team experienced a range of emotions throughout the morning, the team was very nervous and excited initially, after a long journey on the A12.
“The team performed incredibly well throughout, with some particularly strong performances in the throwing and jumping events.
“They showed great teamwork and sportsmanship as always and are incredibly proud of their 9th place finish overall in the county finals, an outstanding achievement for the Chase Lane children who had a really enjoyable experience.”
The Chase Lane team and staff also offered their thanks to Nigel Spencer, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, who attended the finals in support of the school.
