A CHARITY which helps families in need in Harwich is raising a glass to a pub following its first year of fundraising.

The Trafalgar, in Dovercourt, hosted a series of charity events to raise more than £2,100 for Home-Start Harwich.

Joann and Joanne Krisman took over the pub, which was given a £140,000 refurbishment, last year and wanted to do their bit to help local causes.

To raise cash for Home-Start Harwich in the past year they hosted an Easter egg breakfast and hunt, a Santa's grotto and a movie night, as well as other events and raffles.

Jo Krisman said: "Our first year's fundraising has gone so well.

"We would like to thank each and every one of you that have helped with this donation.

"Our chosen charity for the next year will be TeenTalk Harwich.

"They do so much for our local 11 to 25-year-olds.

"We hope to help raise money that will go directly into our community and also raise a little awareness of all the amazing work they do."

A spokesman for Home-Start Harwich said: "A great big thank you to Jo and Jo and everybody at the Trafalgar for their fantastic donation.

"We are so grateful that they chose us as their first charity to support.

"Every penny will help local families in need."
