A GROUP of talented youngsters rose to the occasion as their school football team won a five-a-side tournament.

Footballers from St Joseph’s Primary School in Dovercourt took part in the Fisherman’s Cup Final and completed the treble by beating Chase Lane Primary School 3-2

The school won the Inter Schools League Cup and the Inter Schools indoor five-a-side cup before adding the Fisherman’s Cup to its tally.

A spokesman for the team said: “It takes two teams to make a great final and today was our day.

“A huge shout out to Chase Lane for putting on a great spectacle.

“Thanks to Joe Knight, Tony Armstrong, Dominic Nea, and all at Harwich and Parkeston Football Club for making today such a memorable occasion for both sets of players.”

The match took place in the Harwich and Parkeston Football Club’s Royal Oak ground as Cian Aninakwah scored a brace with Freddie Warren adding the third for St Joseph’s.

Chase Lane’s goals were scored by Matilda Cane and Miles Harris.

The trophy was presented by Harwich and Parkeston Football Club’s leading goal scorer Joe Knight who scored a remarkable 31 goals this season.
