A HARWICH photography enthusiast has shared the ‘amazing feeling’ after snapping a picture of a rare Super Blue Moon.

Alfie Mayhew captured the stunning shot on Wednesday evening, requiring meticulous preparation to secure it.

The most recent previous Super Blue Moon appeared in 2009 while the next is not expected until 2037.

Alfie said: “My interest in photography started from just taking simple photos on my phone and I wanted to progress to get more professional and better looking photos.

“No one in my family is a photographer so it really just came from a thought.”

To ensure he got the perfect picture of the Super Blue Moon, Alfie had to think ahead.

He added: “The preparation of this photo was to see where in the sky the moon would be without any buildings obstructing it.

“I had to make sure there were not any clouds that could obstruct it later in the night so I had to act fast.

“I then used the rules of thirds to separate my photo in three sections to make the photo more appealing to the eye.

“To get this photo felt amazing, [I had a] feeling of accomplishment as well this.

“[This] happens once in a blue moon, quite rarely.”
