A GOLF club in north Essex raised more than £1,500 to support a scout group to help pay for camping gear and other equipment.
The Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club donated to the Oakleys and Ramsey cub group.
Melvyn Boley, captain and vets secretary of the Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club, presented the money to the cub leader Vikki Howard on behalf of the golf club at the scout hut in Little Oakley.
The money was raised during Mr Boley’s year as veterans captain with a raffle at all home matches against other golf clubs,
Mr Boley said he was grateful to all the golfers and visiting teams that contributed to the donation.
Vikki said: “This will make a tremendous difference to the cubs, and means that we can buy much-needed equipment”.
The money will mainly be used for camping equipment including new tents for the cubs to use in their camps.
