A WOMAN from north Carlisle has appeared in court charged with causing a man a "serious injury" by driving carelessly.
At the city’s Rickergate court, 58-year-old Dawn Sharples formally entered a not guilty plea the allegation that she committed the offence on Kingstown Road on Wednesday, June 14 last year when she was driving a Citroen C3.
Prosecutors say her carelessness while driving from a junction and on the road led to an accident which left a cyclist with a broken collar bone. Sharples, of Bracken Ridge, Belah, elected to have her trial before a jury at Carlisle Crown Court.
District Judge John Temperley sent the case to that court for a first hearing on May 13. The defendant was represented by defence lawyer Duncan Campbell.
