A WOMAN has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in a seaside town which left a man requiring hospital treatment.

Essex Police officers were called to an address in Gilders Way, Clacton, at about 6.45pm on Saturday following reports of an attack.

Shortly after arriving at the scene, they discovered an injured man who was subsequently taken to hospital by an air ambulance.

After the incident a 34-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the attack and currently remains in custody.

As of 1pm on Sunday, officers remained at the scene of the incident while additional investigations were carried out.

Essex Police has now asked anyone who may have information linked to the assault to contact the force as soon as possible.

A spokesman said: "We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public.

“If you have any information about the incident, please speak to one of our officers at the scene or get in touch quoting incident number 1132 of Saturday 11 May.

“We appreciate your cooperation while we’re working in Clacton and will share further updates in due course.”

The latest attack in Clacton comes less than a month after a previous serious assault which saw a man stabbed near Clacton Pier during the early hours of April 19.

The victim was taken to hospital in a stable condition, where he received treatment, before a 28-year-old man from London was questioned by police on suspicion of affray.
