Harwich's Yachting Beach proved the ideal stage for a new play marking the anniversary of the Kindertransport and telling the stories of child refugees.
From Here On, by the Gecko Theatre of Ipswich and the Good Chance Theatre of London, had 40 young people from around the world joining the professional ensemble in a large-scale outdoor theatre production.
There were several performances of the show on August 30 and September 1 on the Yachting Beach in Harwich, with large crowds in attendance.
Harwich mayor Pam Morrison said: "The play there was incredibly emotional, incredibly well done, and I spoke to a lot of the performers who are from here and the international cast from everywhere.
"They were incredibly proud to be in Harwich. It was not just about the Kindertransport, it was about child refugees everywhere.
"It was absolutely brilliant."
Harwich councillor Ivan Henderson said children from across the district were involved in the event, which was organised by Tendring Council.
He added: "Someone told me 'I'm proud they picked Harwich, our small town, on our small beach to bring something so magnificent and memorable to the area'."
