A NEW weekly dinner with music is coming to Harwich to help those with dementia or experiencing loneliness.
Harwich’s Food for Thought community café will be starting ‘Supper Sing’, a two-course meal with a music-related activity, on October 2, and then every Wednesday at Harwich Space on Stour Road.
Co-founder Amy Reynolds said: “It’s been nearly two years since we started our business venture, which all began from an idea from a community dinner club we ran in Parkeston.
“We were very sad when we had to stop doing the club, but we had to, due to the business needing our full attention.
“Thankfully, we are now in a position to give something back to the community, so we are starting a new community club combining food, community spirit and music.
“We know that music is great therapy, especially for people coping with dementia and Alzheimer’s and those who are dealing with the loss of loved ones and loneliness.
"The Harwich Hive will be providing funding to help us kick-start this venture and thank you to Sarah Nicholson - our amazing waitress.”
For the first week, the food served will be toad in the hole with mash and vegetables, with apple crumble for dessert.
Both the event and food are free, but donations can be made on the day which will go towards future community projects.
