HEALTH bosses have urged at risk groups to get a flu jab.

People over 65 years of age, pregnant women and those with health conditions are being targeted in this years North Essex vaccination campaign.

Those with severe asthma, chest or heart complaints and diabetes are advised to book an appointment.

The vaccination, which is needed annually, is free and carers of the vulnerable are also urged to get protected.

If untreated, the flu can lead to illnesses such as bronchitis and pneumonia.

The best time to be vaccinated is at the start of the flu season from October to November.
