ALLOTMENT holders are under a cloud of uncertainty after an eviction letter ordered them to leave in four weeks.
Crops will be destroyed and 27 gardeners will be turfed out if Mistley allotment landlords get their way.
They have until February 22 to leave their site off Shrublands Road following a notice from their landlord.
Gabor Glausiusz, who shares ownership with his family, wants to build 24 bungalows on the site, despite Tendring Council having no plans to allocate the land for development.
Critics said it put houses too close to the village hall and could threaten wildlife.
Mr Glausiusz said he might offer a different plot of land south of the allotments.
At Mistley’s latest parish council meeting chairman Martin Rayner said he wrote to Mr Glausiusz to fight the notice.
