Lead has been stolen from the roof of a newly built village pavilion.
Overnight on Monday the theives took £1,000 worth of lead from the roof of the old and new Mistley Cricket Club pavilion.
Robin Mills, club secretary, said: “It was the groundsman who found it had been taken.
“It seems that the thieves used equipment left at the club to take the stuff to the road.
“They took the lead from the roof and used the wheelbarrow to take it to their vehicle.
“It has a scrap value of around £1,000 but we don’t know how much it will cost to repair the roof.”
Villagers are now being asked to help members of the club to keep an eye on the building to keep it safe.
