THREE MP’s have called on the Government to take action and improve the A120.

Priti Patel, Bernard Jenkin and Brooks Newmark have written to the minister for transport Mike Penning calling on him to meet with them immediately.

The trio, who represent Witham, Harwich and North Essex, and Braintree, are concerned about the lack of work to make the hazardous road safer.

Bernard Jenkin, MP for Harwich and North Essex, said the road was dangerous and caused congestion.

He said: “Too many lives have been lost and too many accidents have occurred on this road for action not to be taken.

“The case for investing in this road is overwhelming."

Priti Patel, MP for Witham, said: "Everyone is deeply concerned by the safety record of this road and action is needed to make the road fit for purpose.

“Parish councils and residents along the route face the consequences of accidents and congestion everyday and expect to see improvements made.

“This is a common problem across our constituencies and by working together and lobbying the minister directly we hope real progress can be made."

Brooks Newmark, MP for Braintree, added:"I know that traffic along the A120 leading in to Braintree at Galleys Corner gets worse and worse every day and I believe that dualling this road is necessary to secure and sustain growth in the local economy.”
