A MANNINGTREE beauty salon has partnered up with a nationwide movement and is asking people to donate unused beauty products and toiletries in order to reduce poverty in basic hygiene.
Chloe Jones, 27, owner of The Beauty Empire, in High Street, said the salon has joined up with Beauty Banks, which is a community which believes being clean is a basic human right, not a luxury or privilege.
Chloe, of Strawberry Avenue, Manningtree said: “This is a movement to support those living in poverty in our communities by providing the donation boxes to registered charities, including foodbanks, homeless centres, refuges and high schools.
“Here in the salon we have designated a spot for you to donate your products to Beauty Banks.
“Please bring along your donations with you to your appointments or if you’d like to just drop some in then the best time is a Saturday morning.
“If we are closed when coming any other days then you can leave your donations with D N Howells and Sons next door and I will collect from there.”
People are asked to ensure all products are new and unused, because of health and safety they cannot accept even lightly used products.
Also, consider a balance of male and female products.
Products needed are shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, disposable razors, sanitary products, men’s grooming products and face wash.
