A STUDENT is setting sail towards a career on luxury superyachts after winning unusual and highly sought after funding from Trinity House.
Charlie Turner, of Dovercourt, is on phase one of a superyacht cadetship with leading maritime provider and youth charity, UKSA.
The 19-year-old’s training started on the Isle of Wight in October after he was selected forabursary by Trinity House.
The exclusive course, only offered to a handful of people every year, combines study sessions and sea phase training at UKSA with work as deckhands on superyachts, and also includes a Foundation Degree in operational yacht science.
He said: “I wouldn't have been able to have done it without this support."
