MEDIA students took their first steps into the music industry when they made videos for a Colchester band.
Pupils at Harwich and Dovercourt Sixth form were given copies The Landed’s new album in November last year and were told to choose a track to make a video.
Over the next six weeks they worked in groups or individually to plan, film and edit their videos.
They pitched them to the band at the school, with the winner set to become the official video for a song on the album.
Philippa Parks, head of media at the school, said: “It was their first big piece of practical course work.
“To have a real client come in and listen to their pitches makes a big difference to how the students approached this.
“Some students even arrive in suits for the pitch – it makes the standard of work that much higher.
“Some get nervous about making a real pitch and interviewing, but they are always pleased they did it afterwards. It was valuable experience.”
