A DRUNKEN thug who attacked a police officer has been banned from leaving his house at night.
Police were called to Menin Road, Colchester, last month because of Thomas Williams' behaviour.
When the officers arrived he punched one of them to the head before kicking him in an unprovoked assault.
The 35-year-old admitted being drunk and disorderly, assaulting a police officer and two counts of resisting arrest when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.
He was handed an eight week jail term suspended for nine months and handed a curfew for the next four months where he must remain at his home in Speedwell Road, Colchester, between 7pm and 7am each night.
Williams must also pay £115 compensation to the constable he attacked.
