POLICE have sealed off the front of Fenwick in Colchester High Street after an incident overnight.

Officers are still on the scene outside the department store where glass in the front windows have been smashed.

The area is also cordoned off.

It is believed a slab of concrete has been used to smash through the shopfront in order to gain access to handbags which were on display.

Harwich and Manningtree Standard:

The Gazette has contacted Fenwick and Essex Police for comment.

In April, raiders on motorbikes used a hammer to smash the store window before making off with thousands of pounds worth of handbags.
