A SAILING club raised more than £1,000 thanks to a successful coffee morning.
Blackwater Sailing Club in Basin Road, Heybridge, held the fundraiser in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.
A total of £1,208 was raised at the weekend event in early October.
A spokesman said: “Early arrivals were able to fill up on bacon rolls before taking part in the Dyer Cup race, the Club’s last all in event of the season.
“Spectators were able to get first pick on the variety of stalls.
“These included a craft stall, homemade and home grown produce, toys and books.
“Visitors and returning racers were able to enjoy a selection of delicious homemade soups, bread and cakes and then buy their Christmas cards from the RNLI stand.
“A special thank you to Marilyn Sinclair and her band of volunteers who organised and ran this event.”
The club has managed to raise £8,662 for Macmillan over the last eight years.
