A CAR flipped on to its side after crashing in Heybridge.

The accident happened in Basin Road, Heybridge, on Friday night.

Resident Emma Blake had been having dinner with a friend when she received a call to say it had happened outside her home.

She said: “A car ploughed through my neighbour’s drive, hit his car, went through the front fence, took out a tree which hit my partner's van and flipped onto its side into our car missing the house by half a meter.

“My partner was watching TV in the lounge.

“He called the police as the driver of the vehicle ran off.

“Then he contacted me and told me him and the neighbours and dogs were safe but there was a car on its side in our drive and the 4x4 took the impact.

“I obviously left and came straight home to find the police and neighbours in our drive.

“It was horrible, it's our house that we only moved into six months ago you don't expect it to happen to you.

“Luckily the 4x4 thankfully saved my partner otherwise the vehicle could have gone into the house and I would be having a different phone call.”

No one was injured in the accident.

An Essex Police spokesman said it would not comment as there were no serious injuries.
