HARD-WORKING residents and councillors rolled up their sleeves to spruce up their village pond.
Latchingdon Parish Council carried out the clean-up with members of the public.
Parish clerk Nikki Harman said: “On a chilly Sunday morning, 15 volunteers, including parish councillors Lynn Robinson and Gill Winsor, armed with rakes and secateurs, cleared the brambles, weeds, litter and debris from the perimeter to the edge of the pond.
“They spent two-and-a-half hours of their time ensuring the trees and bushes were pruned ready for spring growth.”
She added: “Latchingdon Parish Council would like to thank all of those that volunteered their time for the community pond.
“Next steps will be to hire a mini digger to remove the sludge and silt from the banks, and the island desperately needs a new duck house.”
