POLICE have condemned a ‘nasty’ attack on community officers after suspected burglars threatened them before fleeing.

The incident in St Giles Close, Maldon saw one of the two men brandish an unknown object at some officers who attended the scene on April 15.

Detective Inspector Gary Biddle said: “This was a really nasty incident in which officers attending a call to a burglary in progress were threatened with violence by the suspects.

“One had what was believed to be a knife and threats were also made to run the officers over with the car they escaped the scene in.

“Our enquiries are progressing and I’m grateful to members of the public who have given us information to help with our investigation.

“I’d ask anyone else who has any information that could help us to please get in touch.”
