MOTORISTS managed to escape serious injuries despite a head on smash.
Police were called to the B1028 between Colchester and Wivenhoe around 11pm on Monday.
Despite the damage to the two cars, nobody was badly hurt.
Paramedics and firefighters were also called to the scene.
The road was shut for several hours while police launched an investigation.
Inquiries are ongoing.
