Essex and Suffolk Water said SS1, SS2 and SS3 postcodes will have their water supplies affected.
Many schools, including Southchurch High School, Shoebury High School, Thorpedene Primary School, Bournes Dean School, and Great Wakering Primary School are understood to have closed for the day due to having no water.
It is thought that hundreds of homes could be affected by the burst.
#SS1 #SS2 #SS3 We are working hard to restore supplies following a burst. Apologies for the inconvenience. Updates to follow
