A DJ is set to host a virtual 24-hour house party in an effort to boost spirits during the lockdown.

Chris Walker, 35, is holding the bash from the comfort of his own kitchen and is aiming to raise thousands of pounds for mental health charity Mind in the process.

Chris, who lives in Heron Road, Kelvedon, is calling on members of the public to join the party by turning their living rooms into dance floors and boogie the day away - although perhaps not all of it.

He said: “I’ve never done anything like this before, the longest set I’ve done is eight hours.

“However, I’m used to working overnight shifts at work which should hopefully help keep me going throughout.

“I’m planning to eat at regular intervals, keep on stretching and drink lots of coffee.

“I’m also hoping for lots of messages of support to me through.”

Chris, who works as a visual merchandiser at Lakeside, says he has chosen to raise cash for Mind having had his own battles with mental health in the past.

He has already hosted a number of online house parties to keep spirits up during the lockdown.

The parties have included happy, uplifting music to spread positivity and the sets have been viewed on Facebook and Youtube by hundreds of people right across the world.

And Chris - who is also known as DH Toph - wants to build on that momentum by hosting the marathon party.

He added: “People have told me the parties have lifted their spirits and helped them to feel connected with others they are missing.

“Although the parties are going well, I feel there is more I could do and I want to support a charity close to my heart.

“That’s why I am going to be hosting this 24-hour DJ set to raise money for Mind.

“Mental health is an issue which affects many of us, including myself, and coronavirus and the lockdown is going to have a big impact on the mental health of many others.”

Those taking part or watching the bash will be asked to make a donation on a justgiving page, with all proceeds going to Mind.

The party starts at 10am on Saturday May 16.
