POPULAR trampoline fitness classes raised more than £50,000 for the NHS in just one day through a bouncing marathon.

Organised by Bounce, the trampoline fitness company challenged attendees to complete five of its online classes in one day.

The company donated the cash from the sales of these classes to NHS Charities Together.

Thousands of people from across the country took part in the challenge.

Bounce launched online fitness classes within one week of the temporary closure of its 340 worldwide studios in March.

There are eight Bounce studios in Colchester and Tendring.

The first Bounce studio in Colchester was opened almost four years ago and before the Covid-19 lockdown had more than 2,500 attendees taking part in classes across north Essex every month.

Emma Atkinson, franchisee and instructor at the Brightlingsea studio, said: “The marathon gained momentum quickly as more and more studio attendees opted to take part, followed by people who hadn’t even attended a class before.

“There was such a great buzz and community spirit around being involved in the event, which is why I think it proved so successful in both participation and the overall amount of money that was raised on the day.”

Laura Wingar, instructor at Bounce Colchester, was delighted with the way it all went.

She added: “The Colchester Bounce army always step up to join forces together and raise money for charity.

“I knew Colchester locals wouldn’t disappoint. It’s an outstanding amount.”

Louise Spires, instructor at Bounce Clacton, said the marathon gave attendees the chance to share their experiences of life in lockdown.

“The marathon was a great way for myself and my attendees to get involved in raising money for a fantastic cause,” she said.

“I feel incredibly proud to have been a part of it and I can’t thank those within my community enough for their generous donations.”

“Those who participated were amazing and worked so hard throughout the day.

“It was lovely to share our experiences with each other as the day progressed.

“It was our love of Bounce that got us through, you just can’t help but smile.”
