RAINBOW crossings were painted at Colchester Hospital to say a big thank you to frontline workers who have battled against the coronavirus pandemic.
Highway Assurance Ltd joined forces with GB Roadart to create the two rainbow crossings and thank you messages at the Turner Road site.
The thank you messages included the words ‘Be safe, be kind, stay well’.
The work was completed in time for last week’s Clap for Our Carers event.
Robert Watton, managing director of Highway Assurance, said the firms wanted to provide a permanent thank you to all the NHS workers.
He said: “It was great to share our appreciation in a visual way and to provide a lasting reminder to all the NHS staff’s efforts.”
Workers from both companies joined doctors and nurses at the Clap for Our Carers event.
The event has seen thousands of people across the county applaud, play instruments, and even set off fireworks, all in the name of celebrating the efforts of NHS and care workers.
Last week was the tenth time it had been held and many have said it will be their last.
Organisers say the event hope it may return again in 2021 as a sign of enduring thanks to NHS staff and key workers.
