CONCERTGOERS will finally be refunded for Little Mix’s cancelled show in Colchester, almost three months after the show was called off.

Pop superstars Little Mix, of X Factor fame, were set to return to Colchester United’s Jobserve Community Stadium on Friday evening as part of their 2020 tour.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic the show was called off, along with the rest of the summer tour, in April.

Showgoers who had purchased tickets through third parties received refunds almost immediately, however customers who bought through the club had received no word on when their money would be returned.

Several disappointed residents contacted the Gazette to express their frustration with the non-existent refunds process.

One said: “I’ve called and there is no answer on the phone and the email address they have issued bounces back undelivered.

“I think the frustration is if you booked through a third party then a refund was instantly issued, we are now months from when it was cancelled and radio silence from the stadium.”

Due to the financial strain of the Covid-19 crisis, the club placed the majority of its staff on furlough leave, which it says has caused delays.

Refunds will begin to be issued in the coming days, although technically after the show was set to take place.

A spokesman for Colchester United said: “The refund process for the cancelled Little Mix concert will begin next week.

“The world’s biggest girlband were due to perform at the JobServe Community Stadium on July 10 as part of their 2020 Summer tour, but the complete tour was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The global crisis also saw the majority of staff at Colchester United put on furlough leave but from next Monday, we are in a position to bring back the appropriately trained staff to begin the process of issuing ticket refunds.”

Little Mix, who shot to fame on the ITV talent show, are one of the world’s most successful girl bands having had four number one singles for the likes of Wings, Black Magic and Shout Out to my Ex.

They previously performed at the U’s stadium in 2018 to the delight of Colchester residents.
