The parts of the Braintree district currently worst impacted by Covid cases have been revealed.

An online map, which is part of the Government's coronavirus data dashboard, shows where positive cases have been in recent days divided into areas.

It is based on pillar 1 and pillar 2 testing data from Public Health England and covers the period of September 16 to 22.

In the Braintree district, the most cases during this period were in Coggeshall and Kelvedon where there were five.

There are also several cases in the neighbouring Uttlesford district.

The list:

  • Silver End and Stisted - 4
  • Coggeshall and Kelvedon - 5
  • Great Dunmow - 3
  • Takeley, Stansted Airport and Mountfitchet South - 3
  • Thaxted, Great Sampford and Radwinter - 3

Other areas in the Braintree district have recorded between none and two cases.

Small cases are grouped and not individually identified.

Latest figures show coronavirus infection has risen in Essex over the past seven days.

The data shows the infection rate in Braintree is now 7.9 cases per 100,000 people, with 12 new cases recorded in the seven day period ending Tuesday, September 22.

This is a rise from the 6.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending September 15.

In Colchester, the infection rate is now 15.9 cases per 100,000 people, with 31 cases recorded in the week ending on Tuesday, September 22.

This is an increase on 7.2 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending September 15, a period when 14 new cases of coronavirus were recorded.

In Tendring, the infection rate now stands at 6.8 cases per 100,000 people, with 10 new cases recorded.

This is up from 4.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending September 15, a week when 7 new cases of the virus were documented in the district.
