A map shows the areas of Maldon worst affected by coronavirus.

The map highlights coronavirus hotspots across the area by colour coding them according to the infection rate.

The map displays weekly data from March when the pandemic began.

The latest data is for the week leading up to October 15.

It shows the rate of infection in each area and where positive cases have been confirmed in recent days.

It is based on pillar 1 and pillar 2 testing data from Public Health England.

Areas are then colour coded based on the infection rate.

Seven day rates are expressed per 100,000 population and are calculated by dividing the seven day count by the area population and multiplying by 100,000.

But where in Maldon is the highest infection rate?

Maldon South has the highest rate of infection at 90.8, which falls just above England's average.

Seven cases have been confirmed in the past seven days.

The next highest rate is in Maldon North where the infection rate is 72.1 and five new cases have been confirmed in the last seven days.

Not far behind is Heybridge with an infection rate of 70.2 and six new cases.

The area of Tollesbury, Tolleshunt and Goldhanger is next with an infection rate of 62.2 and four new cases.

The map shows the lowest infection rate in the area in Mayland, Althorne and Cold Norton at 28.1 and three new cases.

All other areas of Maldon appear in white on the map meaning there have been fewer then three new cases in a seven-day period.
