An exhibition based on Maldon’s Hythe and Promenade is coming to the Maeldune Heritage Centre.

Artist George Kowzan, who moved to Maldon in 2017, is is showcasing his ‘Blackwater Dreaming’ exhibition at the centre.

The artwork is based on his personal thoughts and emotions following his time spent in the town over the past year.

Many of the titles of the works use lyrics of songs to describe his thoughts while making the art.

George, who previously lived and worked in Brighton, Jersey, Gibraltar and Spain, said: “It’s taken three years to begin to know and understand Maldon.”

George has worked as an artist on sculptures, paintings, drawings and huge external murals.

He said his latest exhibition reflects his eclectic style.

George said: “This exhibition is a personal response to thoughts, reminiscences and emotions evoked by time spent at the Hythe and the Prom in Maldon during the course of this unusual year.

“The result is a combination of scenes of the Blackwater Estuary made as mosaics.

“Take time out to momentarily forget the pandemic, and immerse yourselves in the world of Blackwater Dreaming – it’s therapy.”

The Blackwater Dreaming exhibition runs from October 29 to November 14 at the Maeldune Heritage Centre.
