Happy Halloween!

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many spooky events this year have been put on hold to adhere to restrictions and social distancing.

The pandemic means extra care must be taken and many parents will be wondering whether it’s safe to let their children go trick or treating.

The Government has advised against it but not issued a blanket ban.

However, with most of Essex now in tier two, children will have to follow a lot of guidelines, including the rule of six.

Usually Maldon Carnival hosts a treasure hunt in Promenade Park in the run-up to Halloween.

Last year more than 100 children took part in the hunt and fancy dress competition.

Spooky cruises have also been held in Heybridge along the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation.

And Maldon Library has hosted fearsome fancy dress and creepy crafts in pervious years for youngsters and their families.

As most of these events have been cancelled this year we have taken a look back through our archives at some celebrations from previous years.

See if you can spot yourself in these photographs.
