A BOOZE fuelled brawl between “nearly 100 people” broke out at a family pub.

Punters attending the heavyweight world championship bout between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr started a fight of their own in the car park of The Four Seasons, Basildon.

A 38-year-old woman, whose family was trapped in the car park, said: “The sports bar was absolutely rammed with people drinking, it seemed there was no limit to the numbers they let in, and we only saw one security guard.

“The fight broke out as we were leaving dinner. Initially there were about 20 people involved but it escalated massively, with about 100 people kicking and punching each other.

“It was absolutely horrendous, we were so petrified. People were fighting across the entrance, exit and even across the road - we were trapped for about 20 minutes. They were smashing things, and at one point they even mounted a truck.

“I got the kids to the car as soon as possible- we saw a bloke with blood running down his face which I didn’t want them to see. We were also told that someone had been knocked out stone cold.

“ A member of the catering team had to get them away from the road so we could leave with the kids.”

A spokesman for the pub said: “We can confirm there was an incident involving a small number of our customers on Saturday night and we are grateful for the quick intervention by both our security team and the police.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called to reports of a fight shortly after 10.20pm. Officers arrived and no offences were reported.

“Anyone with information can call 101, incident 1296 of December 7.”
