A WEBSITE has revealed some of the most dangerous areas in Basildon and Southend for drivers.

Crash Maps is an interactive platform which shows members of the public areas which have had accidents involving vehicles.

It breaks these down into ‘fatal’, ‘serious’ and ‘slight’ incidents have happened in your area by using the latest police and government data.

This data goes back all the way to 1999.

Dozens of incidents have been recorded in Marine Parade near the Southend Pier and on the B1015/A127 junction in Prittlewell between 2014-2019.

In Basildon, trouble spots include both roundabouts between Broadmayne, near the Basildon Lower Academy in the same time period.

According to Michelle Harrington, road safety manager at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, young drivers on the road carry the most risk.

She said: “Drivers aged 17 to 24 make up just seven per cent of UK licence holders, yet are involved in around one in four of all crashes that result in someone being killed or seriously injured.

“This is largely due to inexperience, so it’s vital that young people’s learning experiences on the road are as extensive and involved as possible.”
