HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club’s under-11s continued their strong form in two matches at Clacton.
On a cold, windy morning, they were made to work hard in both games and were happy to come away with another two clean sheets.
Harwich looked to apply pressure from the start and strong running from Charlie Woods and Matthew McCue put them on the front foot.
In attack, Harwich’s passing game caused Clacton problems and, in defence, they rarely missed a tackle and were strong at the ruck and maul.
Tries from Samuel Parker (two), William Pearce and Ioan Woodward (three) saw Harwich to a 6-0 win.
Game two followed a similar pattern to the first, with Clacton tackling and rucking well and making strong runs, but not able to break down Harwich’s defence.
Harwich had a number of their own strong runners, with Joe Sewell, Harry Woodley, Sam Messenger, Nathan McClelland-Scott and Billy Freeman all making telling runs.
Joshua Reason made a succession of good passes to keep his side going forward.
Woodward and Woods (two) picked up tries and William Pearce finished well in the corner for his try.
Harry Pitham made a perfect flat pass for Regan Constable to run on to and out-pace everyone down the wing for one of his two tries.
